Harry Fry was delighted with American‘s victory at Warwick on Saturday and hopes to send him to the Welsh National.
The seven-year-old has been lightly raced due to training problems but had no trouble in landing the Listed Betfred Mobile Hampton Novices’ Chase on Saturday afternoon.
The son of Malinas hit the front at the halfway stage and left his rivals for dead, putting in some impressive jumps before tiring towards the line.
He now has two wins from two starts over fences and excited trainer Fry will treat him with kid gloves with a view to heading to Chepstow in December.
“He jumped for fun, like he did at Exeter. For a novice to jump like that on his second start is exciting,”said the Dorset handler.
“It’s just that he’s quite fragile, so we know what we’re dealing with. We just have to manage him accordingly. When he’s right he’s very good.
“When Noel (Fehily) got off him at Exeter he said he was a Welsh National horse in the making and hopefully that’s where we’ll be in December, but it’s one day at a time with him and we’ll see how he is tomorrow and go from there.”
