Fran Berry is recovering well from his fractured foot and is targeting a return to riding in early February.
The 36-year-old Irish jockey, who is a part of Ralph Beckett’s stable, has been absent since October when The Bear Can Fly became unruly in the stalls at Lingfield and pinned his foot between herself and the bar.
Berry suffered a break and has been working his way back to fitness, with the target being the start of the turf Flat season.
He told sportinglife: “My last scan in December was good. I still have a boot on the foot and will get a follow-up scan and meet the specialist again next week.
“All being well after that, the plan is to lose the boot and I can increase my rehabilitation programme at Oaksey House. I hope to get back riding out for Ralph in early February and be race-riding again by the end of the that month.
“It would mean I’m fully ready for the start of the turf season.”
