Arkle favourite Altior has a couple of options at Kempton but is likely to run in the 32Red.com Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase.
The six-year-old began his career over hurdles but after a number of successes, including the Grade One Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the 2016 Cheltenham Festival, he switched to the larger obstacles this season.
The son of High Chaparral has taken to fences like the proverbial duck to water, with a couple of wins already including the Grade One Racing Post Henry VIII Novices’ Chase at Sandown Park.
Trainer Nicky Henderson looks set to let his charge loose in the Wayward Lad but Altior also holds an entry in the 32Red Desert Orchid Chase on the same card.
Stablemate Buveur D’Air, who was third in the Supreme, also holds an entry in the Wayward Lad and that might sway connections when deciding which race best suits Altior next Tuesday.
