Jockey Nico de Boinville has confirmed he will not partner Coneygree over the festive period as he recovers from a broken arm.
The 27-year-old has been out of action since November 12 after he fell off Le Reve before being trod on by another horse during a handicap chase at Cheltenham.
He was hoping to partner Coneygree in either the 32Red King George VI Chase at Kempton or the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown but he has now confirmed he needs more time to rest.
After visiting his surgeon on Thursday, the Gold Cup winning-jockey admits he must wait a few more weeks.
He told the Telegraph: “He [the surgeon] was very happy with the way it is healing, but it needs a bit more time and we have agreed to review it again between Christmas and new year.
“It has definitely taken a big stride forward.”
