Highland Reel is in good shape ahead of the Hong Kong Vase on Sunday morning, trainer Aidan O’Brien has confirmed.
The four-year-old has enjoy a strong 2016 with Group One wins in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot and the Breeders’ Cup Turf at Santa Anita, while finishing a creditable second in the Arc in October. If he continues this form into 2017 and beyond Horse racing tipsters at Tipsters review believe he will fast become a fan favourite.
And his next mission is to retain his HK$16.5 million Hong Kong Vase this weekend with O’Brien delighted with his ability to travel well given that this will be his 15th career start out of 20 outside of his native Ireland.
O’Brien said of the Hong Kong Vase favourite: “Highland Reel is a very good colt, we know that. He has tactical speed, he stays, and has everything you could want really.
“He’s been a good traveller from early on in his career, he relaxes, he’s adaptable, he doesn’t overthink situations.”
