Trainer Warren Greatrex has backed One Track Mind to bounce back from his poor showing at Newbury on Friday.
The six-year-old was highly fancied to secure a victory in the Fuller’s London Pride Novices’ Chase, but he failed to recover from a mistake at the first fence, eventually finishing last.
The Bay Gelding was making his chasing debut in the race, and Greatrex was disappointed with the horse’s mistake, but he was pleased with the way he battled back during the rest of the race.
Greatrex said: “He made a horrific error at the first. He has never made a mistake at home and he has just been brilliant. He then comes to the races and does that at the first fence and it is game over.
“He was never able to make up that ground and Gavin (Sheehan) looked after him. He kept going after that and when he warmed up he was OK. He will learn a lot from that.”
One Track Mind will now be looking to bounce back in his next race, with Greatrex confirming that the Andy Weller owned horse is likely to run at either Uttoxeter or Doncaster during early December.
He added: “There are a couple of options for him at Uttoxeter on December 6 and at Doncaster on December 10.”
