Trainer Harry Fry feels he will know more about Unowhatimeanharry after Friday‘s Long Distance Hurdle at Newbury.
Unowhatimeanharry enjoyed a superb campaign last season, winning all five of his starts including the Grade One Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham back in March.
That was the eight-year-old’s last outing of the season and he was set to reappear in the West Yorkshire Hurdle at Wetherby.
However, the son of Sir Harry Lewis did not race due to unsuitable ground and that was also the case in the subsequent Fixed Brush Handicap Hurdle at Haydock last weekend.
However, the gelding is now ready to make his seasonal reappearance and Fry hopes his charge can step up to the new challenges he faces.
“He had a great season last year and never stopped improving,” he said. “He’s going to have to improve again if he’s to hold his own in the three-mile hurdle division this season, but he seems in good form at home and this will tell us exactly where we are with him.”
