Moore hails ‘strong’ Maurice

praised the strong attributes of Maurice after guiding him to victory in the Autumn Tenno Sho at Tokyo racecourse.

The 33-year-old former champion jockey, who enjoyed success aboard Found at the Prix de earlier in the month, linked up with Noriyuki Hori’s five-year-old once again for the 90th Group One race of his career.

The pair enjoyed success in two Grade One wins last year and again performed well to secure victory in Japan, finishing a length-and-a-half ahead of Real Steel.

Afterwards Moore said: “He’s a very good horse, he’s strong at a mile and very hard to beat.

“He’s very strong, he’s got a good turn of foot and he was dominant.

“He couldn’t have been more impressive. He has a big heart, big lungs and at a mile he could go further so we weren’t too concerned about the distance.”
