Connections are considering a tilt at Breeders’ Cup glory for So Mi Dar after her stellar showing at Chantilly on Sunday.
The three-year-old was third under Frankie Dettori in the Group Three Prix De L’Opera but not far behind the winner, Speedy Boarding.
It was the first defeat for the daughter of Dubawi, who had previously been seen claiming a Listed race at Yarmouth on September 14.
Big things were expected of the filly after she romped to victory at York in May’s Musidora Stakes but injury prevented John Gosden‘s charge from running in the Investec Oaks.
There are options open for So Mi Dar but Simon Marsh, racing manager for owners Lord and Lady Lloyd-Webber, admits they are favouring a trip to California.
“We’ll see how she comes out of the race and obviously we’ll leave it up to John and his team, but I think the Breeders’ Cup is something we’ll definitely look at,” he said.
“I think that race (Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf) would suit her as they’ll go a good pace.
“I would say Ascot is very unlikely. She’s had two runs in 18 days and Ascot comes up pretty quick.
“If she went to the Breeders’ Cup it would be a month after her last run, which is ideal.”
