Aidan O’Brien has pulled Long Island Sound out of the Shadwell Joel Stakes at Newmarket on Friday but Cougar Mountain remains.
The trainer now only has five-year-old Cougar Mountain in the race at the final declaration stage for Friday’s contest after deciding Long Island Sound should be withdrawn a few days before.
Six entries remain with David O’Meara having dual Group One winner Amazing Maria and Custom Cut, who won the race in 2014 and finished as runner-up to Time Test 12 months ago, on the list.
Sir Michael Stoute‘s Forge, the Hugo Palmer-trained Gifted Master and Nathra from John Gosden‘s stable are the other three runners.
