Roger Varian remains upbeat on Postponed‘s Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe chances despite a switch to Chantilly.
The showpiece event usually takes place at Longchamp but has moved to Chantilly this year due to construction work.
Juddmonte International winner Postponed has a win at Longchamp in the Prix Foy but has no experience of the Arc’s temporary home.
However, Varian has no concerns as he feels his star five-year-old has the versatility to adapt to new surroundings.
“I don’t see Chantilly presenting any issues,” said the trainer, as reported by the Racing Post.
“He’s shown how versatile he is on a variety of different of tracks and, although I expect it will be a maximum field, I don’t see it as a problem. We have to get him there in the best possible shape, then anything but heavy [ground] should be fine.
“I think he’ll go straight for the Arc. He’ll tick over for a week or two and as his races have been so well spaced out he won’t need too much of a break. The Arc’s only six weeks away.”
