Cox dares to Dream

Trainer says winner My Dream Boat is in flying form ahead of Saturday’s Coral- at Sandown Park.

The son of Lord Shanakill has been a revelation for the Cox yard this season and bids to land his third race in four starts, and his second at Group 1 level.

The four-year-old defied the to win the prestigious Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot earlier this month, beating a host of top that included Japanese raider A Shin Hikari and last season’s Turf champion Found.

He’ll again have the services of Adam Kirkby, who landed a Group 1 double at the Royal meeting, having also steered to victory in the ‘s Stand Stakes on the opening day.

Eleven remain in the Eclipse at the five-day declaration stage, with ‘s French 2000 Guineas winner The Gurkha currently heading the ante-post market if opt to take on the older horses for the first time.

My Dream Boat is a colt who thrives on soft ground and it looks like he’ll get his ideal conditions at Sandown at the weekend.

And Cox insists the Paul and Claire Rooney-owned My Dream Boat is in excellent order as he looks to join an illustrious list of names including Sea The Stars and Golden Horn who have all won the Eclipse.

The Lambourn handler said: “I’m not surprised there’s a few more in than at one stage looked likely. I couldn’t be more pleased with ours since Ascot.

“Everything has gone smoothly, it will only be two weeks since the Prince of Wales’s but we gave him a quiet week last week and he seems in really good form still.

“He’ll have his conditions, there is rain forecast, he’s a course-and-distance winner and we’re confident about him staying the trip on the ground. The only thing that is not in his favour is that Ascot was not that long ago.”
