Foundation is ready to shine in the French Derby at Chantilly on Sunday, according to racing manager Harry Herbert.
John Gosden‘s charge is viewed as the leading contender for the Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) this weekend after three previous victories over a mile when a juvenile.
Foundation disappointed somewhat in the Racing Post Trophy and then in Newmarket‘s Craven Stakes, finishing second and third in those races, before also only coming home third when stable companion Wings Of Desire won the Dante at York last month.
However, Herbert, racing manager for owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, says the three-year-old is in fine fettle ahead of his big day at Chantilly.
He said: “It is all systems go. He has been in very good form and is working very well.
“Frankie Dettori rode him in some work last week and he was delighted. As far as well-being and form coming into the race is concerned, John Gosden is happy with him.”
