Trainer Charlie Appleby has confirmed that Emotionless will miss the Qipco 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket on April 30.
The three-year-old claimed an impressive victory in Suffolk last year in a Maiden Stakes and followed that up with success at Doncaster in a Grade 2 event.
A seventh-place finish at Newmarket last time out dampened the spirits slightly but many were still expecting the colt to be given a shot at the 2,000 Guineas.
However, Appleby has decided to give his charge more time to develop and the sights have been set on enjoying a good second half to the campaign.
“The horse has done nothing wrong in his work but I feel that he is still maturing and will be a better horse with more time,” he toldwww.godolphin.com. “He is an incredibly exciting horse to train but he is a horse for the second half of the season and he has a real future as a four and five-year-old when he is fully developed.
“The decision not to run is a difficult one but it is in the best interests of the horse and that is all that matters.”
