Trainer Charlie Hills is set to send Commonwealth Cup winner Muhaarar to Haydock for the Sprint Cup, with the July Cup also a target.
The three-year-old has enjoyed success in recent times by landing both the Greenham Stakes at Newbury and the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, with Hills now planning ahead for the summer challenges.
And while the July Cup at Newmarket is set to be the first option for Muhaarar, Hills is also keen on a bid for glory at Haydock, as he ponders a potential step up to a mile.
He told the Racing Post: “He’s very versatile and I’m sure we could go a mile at some stage, although there’s no rush for that.
“We’re thinking about the July Cup and that’s the obvious target. Then you’ve got the Sprint Cup at Haydock later in the year and there are lots of other nice races.
“I said immediately after the race (Commonwealth Cup) that he was the best I’d ever trained and I stand by that.
“He ran the last two furlongs up that hill in under 23 seconds, which is very impressive. He could be very special.”
