Colin Tizzard is “delighted with the way the overall build up has gone” for Cue Card‘s bid for the William Hill King George VI Chase.
Cue Card is being aimed at the Kempton showpiece on December 26 and trainer Tizzard feels the nine-year-old is looking good after a workout on Wednesday morning.
“We have no hold ups with the horse since he won the Betfair Chase at Haydock [in November] and we are anxious to hold our nerve and stick to our routine with him,” he is quoted as saying by the Racing Post.
“We do not want to be doing anything differently two weeks away from the big race and I am absolutely delighted with the way the overall build up has gone so far.”
He added: “The fact of the matter is we have got Cue Card where we want him ahead of the Kempton and, although he is nine going on ten, he seems as good as he was when winning the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham almost two years ago.”
Cue Card will come up against the likes of Vautour, Don Cossack and Silviniaco Conti in the King George VI Chase later this month.
