Racehorse Owners Association (ROA) members have crowned Anthony Oppenheimer racehorse ‘Owner of the Year’ for 2015.
Oppenheimer, who is the owner and breeder of Golden Horn, picked up the award with his daughter Emily at the 34th annual awards in London on Thursday evening.
He was recognised for his colt’s impressive wins in four Group One races including the Investec Derby and Europe’s richest race, the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
Golden Horn also collected the award for ‘Outstanding Middle Distance Horse’ to cap a good night for Oppenheimer.
The Max Partnership-owned Cheltenham Gold Cup-winning novice chaser Coneygree won the ‘Outstanding Chaser’ and ‘Novice Chaser’ awards, while Susannah Ricci picked up the ‘Outstanding Hurdler’ prize with Faugheen and the ‘Outstanding Novice Hurdler’ with Douvan.
ROA members posthumously awarded the ‘Outstanding Stayer’ award to Brown Panther.
The best British racecourses for racehorse owners went to Chester and Kempton Park.
