David O’Meara has confirmed Mondialiste’s next outing will come in December’s lucrative Hong Kong Mile.
The five-year-old was runner-up to Tepin in the recent Breeders’ Cup Mile and has good form, having enjoyed wins at York and Pontefract in Britain, as well as at Woodbine in Canada.
Mondialiste’s camp are now targeting Group One glory at Sha Tin on December 13, where he is likely to be joined by Toormore.
O’Meara admits to being delighted by his charge’s recent form and is confident he has the talent to adapt to the conditions in Asia.
“The plan is for Mondialiste to go for the Hong Kong Mile,” the York handler is quoted as saying by the Racing Post. “He travelled to and from the Breeders’ Cup really well and has come out of the race in great form.
“We were absolutely delighted with the run because going into it, although he had won the Canadian race, we looked up against it with horses like Esoterique, Make Believe and a few others in the line-up.
“He’s a versatile horse and can be ridden whatever way we like on the day and the track at Sha Tin should be fine.”
