Peace And Co has been backed by trainer Nicky Henderson to threaten Faugheen‘s bid to retain his Champion Hurdle crown this season.
Peace And Co, who ended last season with victory over stablemates Top Notch and Hargam in the Triumph Hurdle, faces a tall order to get the better of Willie Mullins‘ unbeaten champion, but Henderson is confident he will push him all the way.
“I hope (he can give Faugheen a race). He’s a powerful beast of a horse for a four-year-old,” said Henderson.
“Four-year-olds tend not to have a great record out of their own age group and in the Champion Hurdle the following year, but we did it with See You Then and Binocular did all right.
“He isn’t the most forward of all our horses, for no other reason than he’s big, gross, strong and well.”
