Trainer Mark Bradstock has revealed Coneygree is expected to feature in the Future Stars Chase at Sandown on November 8.
The eight-year-old racked up a fourth successive win with a stunning performance in the Cheltenham Gold Cup back in March, beating Djakadam by a length-and-a-half.
Previous successes include the Denman Chase and Fuller’s London Pride Novices’ Chase at Newbury, while a good win was also recorded in the Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton.
Coneygree is yet to make his seasonal reappearance but Bradstock has confirmed his charge will skip the meeting at Carlisle this Sunday and instead prepare for the event at Sandown.
“He is more likely to go to Sandown. Ground permitting, we’ll head there,” he said. “He’s in very good form.”
If all goes well in the up-coming race the plan is to enter the gelding in the field for the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury on November 28, which his half-brother Carruthers won in 2011.
