Trainer Roger Varian has confirmed Postponed has pulled out of the Breeders’ Cup at the end of the month.
The King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner was tipped to run well in the Grade One contest at Keeneland on October 31but, following a dirty scope after a run-out with Andrea Atzeni, the four-year-old will instead be prepared for the Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan in March.
“I have spoken with Sheikh Mohammed Obaid this morning and I can confirm that Postponed will not run in the Breeders’ Cup,” the Newmarket trainer told his stable’s website.
“His post-work scope was not 100 per cent and we do not want to risk travelling him unless he is in peak health.
“His likely next target will be the Dubai Sheema Classic at the end of March, possibly with a prep run before.”
