Karl Burke is eyeing a trip to Ayr next time out for Quiet Reflection after showing promise in the Lowther Stakes at York last week.
The two-year-old claimed victory in the Maiden Stakes at Hamilton in July but had to settle for a creditable fifth in the Group Two on the Knavesmire last time out.
Quiet Reflection appeared to be hindered by some early interference in the six-furlong Group Two event but showed good character to come back from the setback.
Burke is now pondering a trip to Scotland for her next start after identifying two races at next month’s William Hill Gold Cup Festival.
“We just wanted a nice, smooth run with her, but we didn’t exactly get that,” he said. “She was badly hampered in the first 50 yards and that takes a lot for an inexperienced horse to get over, let alone an experienced one.
“She never really recovered from that, which was a shame as she is a good filly.
“I am not saying she would have won, but she would have been good enough to challenge for third at least.
“There’s a six-furlong Group Three race at Ayr next month (Firth of Clyde Stakes), or we might drop her back in trip for the five-furlong Listed race at the same meeting (Harry Rosebery Stakes).”
