William Haggas doubled up for the second day in a row at the Ebor Festival as Tasleet and Besharah won big prizes at York.
Haggas won Group races with Recorder and Storm The Stars on the opening day of the meeting and saw Besharah confirm herself as one of the best juvenile fillies around with an impressive success in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes.
Besharah had been narrowly denied at this level at Newmarket’s July Festival, but gained Group 3 compensation at Ascot last time and she carried on her improvement with a decisive success over six furlongs.

Mark Johnston’s once-raced Lumiere was sent off favourite and set the pace, along with Continental Lady, as Besharah and Easton Angel raced keenly.
Easton Angel joined Lumiere at the front, but they had no answer to the burst of Besharah, who came between horses to quicken away for a two-and-a-quarter length success.
Haggas had taken the opening race of the day with another promising juvenile as Tasleet justified favouritism in the DBS Premier Yearling Stakes.
Tasleet was second to the smart Shalaa in the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last time, but gave his backers a scare when stumbling around two furlongs out.
However, Paul Hanagan kept his composure and Tasleet quickly found his stride again to win by half-a-length from the fast-finishing Ferryover.
Kelinni’s bold bid to make all in the Clipper Logistics Handicap came to an agonising conclusion as he was collared close home by the top weight Chil The Kite.
Kevin Ryan‘s Kelinni set a fierce pace in the one-mile contest and finally appeared set for a big win at York after a couple of near misses, but he faltered in the final 100 yards as Chil The Kite swooped past in the hands of George Baker to beat Alfred Hutchinson by a head, with the brave front-runner a length back in third.
John Gosden and Frankie Dettori gained a modicum of compensation for Golden Horn’s defeat in the Juddmonte International when Martlet won the Listed Galtres Stakes.
Martlet beat fellow three-year-old Koora, who was bidding to give Luca Cumani a ninth win in the race, by two-and-a-quarter lengths.
Richard Fahey was just denied training the last winner of the day for the second day in a row when Dusky Queen was foiled by a neck by favourite Mistrusting in the 7f Fillies’ Handicap.
