Moviesta will not compete in next week’s Nunthorpe Stakes at York after a disappointing showing at Glorious Goodwood last time out.
The five-year-old could only finish 12th in the Qatar King George Stakes on July 31 in a race that he had won two years earlier and he will now miss the meeting in Yorkshire.
The Bay Gelding will instead stay closer to home and compete in the Gerrardstown House Stud Supporting Breast Cancer Research Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh with part-owner Ritchie Fiddes confirming that the Eddie Lynam-trained horse struggled at Goodwood.
He said: “He missed the break and when he tried to make up the ground it was the fastest three furlongs of the race.
“It was a real shame but he just couldn’t get back into the race. On a track he loves, we were disappointed with how it panned out.”
Fiddes is now hopeful that Moviesta can return to form in the Group Three race in Ireland as he looks to secure his first victory since the success in the King George two years ago.
