Peter Chapple-Hyam is planning to take Arod overseas following the colt’s second behind Solow in the Sussex Stakes.
Arod ran a fine race in defeat against leading miler Solow in Wednesday‘s Glorious Goodwood feature after Andrea Atzeni attempted to make all the running.
Chapple-Hyam felt the going wasn’t quick enough for the four-year-old and he will now go in search of fast ground for the rest of the season.
The Prix du Moulin at Longchamp is Arod’s likely next target and he could also head to Australia later in the year to tackle the Cox Plate.
“It has to be the case, fast ground,” Chapple-Hyam told Racing UK.
“I’d like to go to the Moulin in France as the Jacques Le Marois is only two weeks away. Maybe he could go a mile-and-a-quarter in the Cox Plate in Australia.”
Arod won twice over a mile-and-a-quarter last season and also finished fourth in the Epsom Derby behind Australia.
However, he has been revitalised over a mile this year, finishing third in the Lockinge Stakes before winning the Diomed Stakes and Summer Mile prior to his runner-up spot in the Sussex Stakes.
