Willie Twiston-Davies was delighted to prove himself on the big stage following his win on Sands Of Fortune in the Goodwood Stakes.
The 20-year-old was riding for his father Nigel and he delivered a superb front-running ride on Sands Of Fortune to win by six lengths.
Twiston-Davies has largely been overshadowed by the exploits of his older brother Sam, who is the retained jockey for the Paul Nicholls yard over jumps.
However, the younger Twiston-Davies is well into double figures for the season on the Flat and has partnered the Khalid Abdulla-owned Suffused to victory the last twice for trainer Roger Charlton.
“It’s just good to prove that, when you get the opportunity on the big stage, you can produce,” Twiston-Davies told Racing UK.
“I’ve been very lucky to get some nice rides on horses like Suffused for Roger Charlton. When you get a chance like that, you have to take it with both hands and I like to think I’ve done that.
“It’s days like this that make it all worth it. I never complain, I keep my head down. I’m 20 years of age and everything is a bonus. I’m very lucky to be doing what I’m doing.”
