Toormore went one better than 12 months ago when pulling out plenty for James Doyle to win the Group 2 Lennox Stakes.
The four-year-old was turned over at odds-on in the feature race on the opening day of the Glorious Goodwood meeting a year ago, but there was no surprise on this occasion.
Racing in the Godolphin colours for the first time, Toormore was quickly sent into the lead in the seven-furlong contest by Doyle and he never appeared to be headed.
With high-class form over a mile, Doyle ensured Toormore set a decent pace out in front as Code Red sat in just behind, along with Royal Ascot winner Dutch Connection.
Code Red moved up to challenge Toormore inside the final two furlongs and most of the seven runners had a chance as they fanned across the track.
Ascription tried to get on terms on the inside rail as Dutch Connection and Godolphin’s second string Safety Check made their moves down the centre of track.
But Toormore responded willingly in the hands of Doyle to pull away again from Code Red in the final furlong as Richard Hannon‘s horse recorded a first win since landing the Craven Stakes at Newmarket in April 2014.
Dutch Connection stayed on well for second to suggest he may prefer going back over a mile following his recent second at Chantilly, while Safety Check was third.
