Golden Horn has matched the achievement of Frankel by being handed a 130 rating by the British Horseracing Authority.
The John Gosden-trained horse is only the second three-year-old in the classic generation to achieve the mark, following in the footsteps of Grade One star Frankel.
The bay colt was awarded the achievement by the BHA’s head of handicapping Phil Smith and it caps a good week for the unbeaten champion after he became the first horse to achieve the Dante, Derby and Eclipse treble at Sandown last Saturday.
That performance lifted the three-year-old’s rating to the 130 mark and Smith admitted that he would be disappointed if the horse did not surpass the rating by the end of the race season.
Smith said: “He is clearly a fast-improving colt who on Saturday showed his versatility by making the running for the first time.”
The mark is still to be officially confirmed by the International Handicappers, with Smith revealing that the runner will become the highest-rated horse in the world this year if they agree with his rating.
