Trainer John Gosden believes that The Grey Gatsby will offer a massive test to his charge Golden Horn in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown.
Gosden’s charge is looking to add the Eclipse to the victories he has already secured in the Dante Stakes at York and the Epsom Derby, but the Newmarket handler is expecting a major challenge from The Grey Gatsby on Saturday.
The Kevin Ryan-trained four-year-old triumphed in the Dante last year and finished an unlucky second to Free Eagle in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Gosden warned: “It’s far from a one-horse race and I have a great deal of respect for The Grey Gatsby, who is a multiple Group One winner and was a little unfortunate not to win at Royal Ascot.
“He’s arguably the best mile-and-a-quarter horse around and sets a very high standard. I think the odds should be more like evens and 2-1 rather than what they are now.”
