Dermot Weld has revealed that Forgotten Rules could try and bounce back from his Royal Ascot disappointment at the Curragh on Sunday.
Forgotten Rules’ unbeaten start came a cropper at the fifth attempt, finishing third behind Trip To Paris and Kingfisher in the Gold Cup last Thursday.
Weld, though, does not seem too fazed by the defeat with the fast ground and two-and-a-half-mile trip not helping the five-year-old and he has reported his charge to have come out of last week’s race well.
Weld is now considering sending the bay gelding out in the At The Races Curragh Cup but insists that it will be ground dependent.
“We decided to leave him in and we’ll make a decision on his participation later in the week,” said Weld.
“As ever, he’ll need sufficient rain for us to contemplate running.
“He’s bounced out of Ascot well.”
