Amazing Maria caused a major upset in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes after being given a superb ride by James Doyle.
Integral had been sent off an odds-on favourite in her bid to repeat last year’s success in the Group 2 contest, but she disappointed in the hands of in-form jockey Ryan Moore.
Instead, it was Ascot specialist Rizeena who briefly appeared the likely winner before Doyle brought Amazing Maria from last to first as the four-year-old won for the first time since landing a Group 3 at Goodwood as a juvenile.
The field had been reduced to seven when Evita Peron was declared a non-runner and it was further depleted when last season’s Grade 1 winner Euro Charline was withdrawn after failing to go into the stalls.

Sir Michael Stoute‘s second string Bragging set the pace from Lightning Thunder and there was no change in the order for the first half of the mile contest.
As the tempo started to quicken, last year’s Coronation Stakes winner Rizeena loomed up on the far side as Moore brought Integral with a challenge on the stands’ side.
But Integral was unable to go on with her effort under a penalty as first Cladocera and then Amazing Maria came through as Rizeena started to drift across the track.
Amazing Maria was not inconvenienced by Rizeena’s wandering, though, as she surged clear to win at odds of 25/1 for trainer David O’Meara and owner Sir Robert Ogden.
Rizeena was two lengths adrift in second, with the same gap back to Cladocera in third. Bragging came home fourth as Integral could only finish fifth after failing to build on her encouraging fourth in the Lockinge Stakes on her seasonal reappearance.
