Peter Chapple-Hyam has targeted a tilt at the Queen Anne Stakes for Arod after his impressive run in the Lockinge on Saturday.
The trainer holds the highest regard for his four-year-old after he chased home The Grey Gatsby in the Dante, on the back of his maiden win last April, which was followed up a fourth-place finish in the Derby.
Arod finished second to French Navy in the Earl Of Sefton Stakes on his return to action at Newmarket in April and Chapple-Hyam was delighted with what he saw of his bay colt when dropped in trip for Saturday’s Lockinge.
The Teofilo colt impressed when third behind Night Of Thunder and Toormore and Chapple-Hyam is keen to keep him over a mile.
“I think we’ll probably stick to that trip for now and I suppose we will look at that (Queen Anne), which will probably be even tougher, but we think we can find a bit of improvement,” Chapple-Hyam said.
“He’s a horse who has always shown me plenty from day one and I’ve just had to nurture him as he’s been a bit excitable.
“He’s growing up now and I think even faster ground than last weekend will suit him – the faster the better, really.”
