Trainer Andrew Balding has confirmed Victoria Pollard (Black & Gold) will not feature in the Investec Oaks at Epsom on June 5.
The daughter of Sir Percy was being tipped to challenge for third British Classic of the season after making a winning debut at Newbury in April in the Whitley Stud Maiden Fillies’ Stakes.
These hopes were dashed following the most recent outing at Chester, with the three-year-old finishing a disappointing seventh in the Arkle Finance Cheshire Oaks, 12 lengths behind winner Diamondsandrubies.
Balding is now looking at other options for Victoria Pollard after confirming the initial plans to run in the Investec Oaks have been scrapped.
Speaking at an Investec press trip to his stables on Tuesday, he said: “I was disappointed with her at Chester. I thought she was a decent filly – indeed, I still think she is a decent filly so we’ll regroup and look for something else.”
