Mecca’s Angel in line for Ascot tilt

are targeting a shot at ‘s for Mecca’s Angel but only if conditions are in her favour.

The four-year-old won all four of her contests last year and opened her 2015 account with a superb run to destroy the field at ‘s Prix de Saint-Georges on Sunday.

The daughter of Dark Angel beat a competitive field by more than two lengths to land the Group 3 contest and trainer Michael Dods feels there is still room for improvement in the impressive filly.

“She’s very quick. She can travel at a fast pace but then quicken into another gear as well, not many can do that,” he told At The Races. “They told us on the track it was a course record. She surprised me as I think there is improvement to come.”

Mecca’s Angel’s immediate future is unclear but, if the ground it right, it seems as though she will head to Berkshire

“She’s stronger than last year and I think she’ll improve again,” Dods added. “Ascot is the plan but I won’t be swayed. If conditions aren’t right she won’t run – she has to get her toe in.

“If we’re happy with the conditions she’ll go, but if there’s any firm in the going description she won’t run.”
