Ascot chance for Brave

The -trained Home of the Brave is set to run at Royal after an impressive showing in the at .

The three-year-old put in a bold performance in the first of the season on Saturday, leading from the front before surrendering his advantage inside the final furlong and eventually he finished in sixth position.

This form pleased his trainer Palmer, who believes the Chestnut Colt would have won the race over eight furlongs had he not been competing against such prestigious rivals.

He said: “He’s come out of the Guineas really well, he ran a fantastic race. He might stay a mile well enough to win a Listed race, but a Classic is a different matter.”

The trainer went on to confirm that the horse, who won at Newmarket in the European Free Handicap in April, will now step down in trip and compete in either the seven furlong Jersey Stakes or the over six at Ascot next month.

He continued: “He’ll go to Ascot and it will either be the Jersey or the Commonwealth.”
