Frankie Dettori is set to ride Richard Hannon‘s Moheet in Saturday’s 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.
It was previously suggested that he would ride John Quinn’s contender Wow Signal in the year’s first Classic but Harry Herbert, racing manager for Qatari-owned Al Shaqab Racing who own both horses, has indicated that the 44-year-old Italian will pair up with Moheet.
Leading French jockey Gregory Benoist is poised to get the ride on The Wow Signal, who was a winner in the Coventry Stakes for two-year-olds at Royal Ascot last June.
Herbert told the Yorkshire Post: “At this stage the intention is to run both of them. I think Frankie rides Moheet with Gregory Benoist coming over to ride The Wow Signal but that could change, obviously.
“We were very pleased with Moheet in the Craven and expect him to come on a good bit for the run. As for The Wow Signal, John Quinn is very happy with him and he’s going there as something of a forgotten horse, he was sick when he ran in France at the end of last season.”
