Ribchester has enjoyed an outstanding season and will look to finish the campaign strongly by claiming the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes.
The Bay Colt has won three of his four major races in Europe this term and the Godolphin-owned horse could be on course for a fourth victory at Ascot.
Due to his form this term and his pedigree in big races his odds are relatively short for the event, although it’s best to track them at Timeform, along with his form, ahead of the meet on October 21.
Ribchester had only recorded three wins in his opening nine races before the 2017 season. He began his career in 2015 by finishing second in two meets on the bounce in Doncaster and York before Richard Fahey’s charge claimed his maiden win at the Reef Stakes in Newbury.
With James Doyle in the saddle he had been considered the favourite for the event, but delivered on expectations by winning by one-and-three-quarter lengths.
However, the Bay Colt was forced to wait until June 2016 for his next win, which would come at his first appearance at Royal Ascot. Ribchester was considered to be one of the leading contenders for the victory in the Jersey Stakes.
He put forward a strong race and was able to make his surge towards the final furlong, claiming the victory ahead of Thikriyaat by two-and-a-quarter lengths.
The Prix Jacques Le Marois would offer the next victory for Ribchester as he beat out a talented field in Deauville with another flourishing finish – and if you think Ribchester’s got a chance of taking home the gold, why not put a few quid on it?
Fahey’s charge was considered a solid contender, but he would begin to change perceptions in 2017, although he got off to a slow start in Meydan, placing third in the Dubai Turf finishing behind Vivlos and Heshem. As ever, check the RCA for more information.
