Rolling Maul is likely to be given a run-out at Ffos Las in preparation for the Betfred Cesarewitch at Newmarket in October.
Trainer Peter Bowen has been impressed with the nine-year-old following his switch to Flat racing, with the Bay Gelding making it three out three so far after claiming victories at Bath, Ffos Las and Newmarket.
The Betfred Cesarewitch is the next main target and, in preparation for the two-and-a-quarter-mile handicap on October 14 at Newmarket, Bowen wants to find a warm-up outing, with a trip back to Ffos Las appealing.
Bowen said: “He has done well on the Flat. He has always been a really good work horse, though, and he really tries. We thought we would try him on the Flat and hopefully, with a bit of luck, he will get into the Cesarewitch now.
“We will run him again. I don’t think we will go for the Cesarewitch Trial. We will try to find something easier as I don’t want to give him a hard race before the Cesarewitch. There might be an opportunity to run him round Ffos Las.”
He added: “The Cesarewitch has been on the back of our mind for a while as we tried it a few years ago with Mr Ed and he was only beaten half a length in it. Two and a quarter miles will help him as well.”
