Happy Diva’s next outing will come in the Pertemps Lady Protectress Mares’ Chase, with Kerry Lee saying she’s in “great form”.
The 10-year-old won the Huntingdon contest by a length from Magic Of Light in 2019, going one better having been second to Rene’s Girl the previous year.
A fall in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham in November, a race she also won in 2019, led to worries over her fitness but she returned later in the month to finish third at Carlisle.
Lee believes bad luck was to blame at Prestbury Park and is now looking forward to the mare’s outing at Huntingdon.
The Herefordshire-trainer is upbeat about the daughter of King‘s Theatre’s hopes on January 29, reporting that to be her next target.
“She’s in great form. She’s on target for the Lady Protectress at Huntingdon at the end of the month,” she said. “She was unlucky at Cheltenham, unfortunately – (but) such is life.
“She’s quite all right, and she will be going there (to Huntingdon on January 29), all things being well.”
