Trainer Tom Symonds says he will take Song For Someone to a Champion Hurdle trial ahead of the Cheltenham Festival.
The five-year-old is in splendid form after winning his third race in a row at Cheltenham last weekend, crossing the line to win the International Hurdle.
That followed on from victories at Ascot in the Coral Hurdle and the Kingwell Hurdle at Kemptown.
He is expected to run in the Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy at Cheltenham Festival in March and is well fancied after his recent exploits.
However, Symonds says a trial run will be the plan in order to make sure he is in top shape ahead of the prestigious Grade 1 race.
“We’ll probably head to one of the Champion Hurdle trials – the Contenders Hurdle at Sandown, the Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock or the Kingwell Hurdle again,” he said. “We’ll then head for a festival of some kind. Fingers crossed he stays in one piece.
“He’s entered at Leopardstown over Christmas, but that will be too soon for him. He’s a horse who seems to take his racing well, but I think we need to give him the time he deserves.
“He will be getting a Champion Hurdle entry at Cheltenham and we’ll just see what happens between now and then.”
