Nicholls has high hopes for Solo

says he’s “very excited” for Solo’s prospects this season as he prepares to run in Saturday’s Unibet Elite Hurdle at .

The four-year-old caught the attention of many when winning the Adonis Juvenile Hurdle at in February, before then struggling to replicate that form at the .

An eighth-place finish in the Triumph Hurdle was disappointing but is not reading too much into that performance and, after being gelded, he’s now ready to go again, ahead of Saturday’s contest at Wincanton.

Nicholls has been quoted by Sky Sports, saying: “ like Clan Des Obeaux and Frodon ran in the Triumph and finished in midfield like him. I’d put a line through – he’s had a nice break, he’s been gelded and has definitely improved.

“This track is much more like Kempton, where he won the Adonis. He’s schooled great and is working well – I’m very excited about him.

“We’ll stay over hurdles this year, and Saturday will tell us an awful lot.”
