Cox aiming Golden Horde at Ascot

Trainer has confirmed Golden Horde is on track to run in next month’s Qipco British Champions Sprint at .

The three-year-old colt has enjoyed a successful 2020, starting the season at Ascot with a Group One victory in the . He was then beaten in three subsequent top level starts against older, more experienced , most recently when coming third in the Sprint Cup Stakes at earlier this month.

The son of Lethal Force has certainly been impressing his trainer, with Cox now confirming his star sprinter is on course for another shot at Group One glory at Ascot on October 17.

“Golden Horde’s in great nick,” the Lambourn-based trainer was quoted as saying by the Post. “He’s had a very special season, winning his in the Commonwealth Cup and stepping up when taking his elders on in all the major sprints.

“He’s been so consistent all the way through and all being well it’s all go for the Champions Day Sprint.”

Golden Horde is considered one of the major contenders to win the Champions Sprint, with ‘s Dream of Dreams and Space Blues, who is trained by Charlie Appleby, also expected to be among the frontrunners.
