All eyes will no doubt be on tomorrow’s Ascot card but there
are one or two (three in my case) horses who could be worth a poke.
Potentially, the best race of the day is at Pontefract where a field full of
good fillies aim for a bit of black type in the Listed race at 2.50. Antonia De
Vega is the class horse in the race and should take all the beating but I quite
fancy her stablemate, NETTE ROUSSE,
to run a big race at a big price. I tipped her on Friday at Newbury but she was
declared a non runner so I remain interested. Her rating says she has a lot to
find but I think she is very unexposed and could be a lot better than her
current mark. If I’m right, then she may not have that much to find with her
stablemate and therefore could be overpriced at 25/1.
Over at
Chepstow, Hollie Doyle has a strong book of rides and I’d be interested in MEMORY HILL who ran a tidy race on
stable debut last time out. That run was a career best and there is every
reason to think he will step forward from that as it was his first run of the
season. A slight drop in trip should also suit and with Doyle’s presence aboard
I imagine connections are more than hopeful.
Half an
hour later I think JOHNNY KIDD has a
strong chance of getting his head in front at long last. There is a slight
suspicion that his attitude isn’t the best but I don’t necessarily buy into
that, yet. He ran in a much stronger race than this last time out and only got
beat by a progressive type. With race fitness now on his side, he should be
going close in a race of this nature.
