Spencer recovering after hip surgery

Jamie Spencer says the thought of exciting future rides will keep him going during his recovery from hip surgery following a fall.

The jockey suffered an unfortunate fall when riding out on the gallops for trainer David Simcock in on and was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge for treatment.

An operation was deemed necessary and he’s now focused on his recovery as he aims to be back in action later in the year when resumes.

Spencer wrote on his Twitter account: “On Friday morning at 8.40am I was returning from Warren Hill gallop when what can only be described as a freak accident when my horse spooked and I parted company with him.

“Because I landed awkwardly on the concrete pathway there was only going to be one winner of that event. I was then transferred in an NHS ambulance to Addenbrooke’s and subsequently found to have an injury which has required surgery, but hopefully I am now on the road to recovery.

Spencer, who has been champion jockey in both Ireland and Britain and has won
