Veracious will not compete in the Qipco 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket after suffering a setback in training.
The three-year-old, who was due to be partnered by Frankie Dettori for the Newmarket spectacle, produced a brilliant performance under the guidance of jockey Ryan Moore to score at the same venue in October last year.
Veracious, a daughter of Frankel, is trained by Sir Michael Stoute and the bay filly was the shortest-priced British-trained runner for the 1,000 Guineas, which takes place on May 6.
But, the Cheveley Park Stud-owned charge will not be competing after suffering a setback ahead of the meeting.
A statement from the stable said: “Veracious is out of the 1,000 Guineas as she has had a training setback.”
Happily, trained by Aidan O’Brien, is the current pre-race favourite, just ahead of stablemate September, who finished third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar last time out.
