Verbal Dexterity has been ruled out of the Qipco 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 5, trainer Jim Bolger has confirmed.
Last September’s National Stakes winner was forced to withdraw from the Dewhurst because of a dirty scope and subsequently finished fourth behind Saxon Warrior in the Racing Post Trophy, the final run of his juvenile campaign.
Bolger had planned to pitch Verbal Dexterity straight into next month’s Rowley Mile Classic and had previously given off positive vibes about his condition.
However, he has now revealed the 2000 Guineas is a no-go and must look to future races for the three-year-old, with entries held in the Dante at York, the Irish Guineas and also the Irish Derby.
He told The Irish Field: “Verbal Dexterity has had a setback which will rule him out of Newmarket.”
