Colin Tizzard has confirmed Cue Card is not retired off the back of his poor Cheltenham outing and he will race again this season.
The Milborne Port trainer spoke out after the 12-year-old’s owner Jean Bishop claimed talks would take place about the possibility of retiring Cue Card after he pulled up in the Ryanair Chase at the Prestbuy Park festival earlier this month.
It was a third successive disappointment for the horse at the event after he fell in both the 2016 and 2017 Cheltenham Gold Cup.
But Tizzard insists race-goers have not seen the last of the multiple Grade One winner with an outing at Aintree or Sandown lined up.
He said: “The horse is absolutely fine and he’s not retired. All I’ll say is that we said we were going to run him until the end of the season and nothing has changed.”
