Ryan Moore enjoyed a hat-trick of wins on Saturday sealed when he guided Kool Kompany to victory in the Doncaster Mile.
The 33-year-old had already enjoyed success aboard Tupi and Ballet Concerto, before making it a 575/1 treble with a late charge as Kool Kompany thwarted Stormy Antarctic on the line.
Afterwards, Moore said: “He was a bit gassy early and I didn’t want to go to soon, but I didn’t have a lot of choice. The horse tried very hard.”
Trainer Richard Hannon was also pleased with the performance of Kool Kompany as the five-year-old showed the form which won him the 2015 Craven Stakes following a disappointing spell racing in Australia.
Hannon said: “I’m delighted. He’s been off a long time. He went to Australia and it didn’t pan out for him there. He’s been working well. He got a bit fresh last week and didn’t work as well as he could so we thought we’d run him here and thought it might bring him on.
“It looks like he’s worthy of an entry in the Lockinge (Newbury). He’s a gorgeous-looking horse and Ryan gave him a great ride.”
