Almanzor camp to bide time

of Almanzor are keen not to pin him down to a certain schedule for 2017.

The three-year-old has won on his last five outings and starred at on Saturday with a two-length victory ahead of Found in the Champion Stakes.

Speculation is now rife as to what path the colt will tread next year, with a run in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes at the Royal meeting and then a crack at the Prix de later in the year being suggested.

Trainer Jean-Claude Rouget has already confirmed he will compete as a four-year-old but Sylvain Vidal, who is manager to part-owner Gerard Augustin-Normand, says they have still to make any concrete plans for next year.

“It was a wonderful performance. He’s a champion. He’s a very class horse,” Vidal said. “That was the plan so the job is done.

“I can’t say now what the plan will be for next year. I have no idea.

“He could go for the Arc, but that is next year, so we will see. He has deserved to go on his break.”
