Trainer Kevin Ryan has confirmed that The Grey Gatsby is set to feature in the Juddmonte International at York later this month.
The five-year-old son of Mastercraftsman has been in good form of late with a second-placed finish behind Goodwood Cup winner, Big Orange, in the Princess Of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket last month.
And, having finished second behind Australia in 2014 and third behind Arabian Queen and Golden Horn last year respectively, Ryan is hoping it will be third time lucky for the Frank Gillespie-owned The Grey Gatsby in the £900,000 Group One feature on Wednesday 17 August.
He said: “The Grey Gatsby is on target for the Juddmonte. He’s in good order and we are hoping the weather stays fair and we get some good fast ground.
“He has run well in the last two years and has never run a bad race at York – we are hopeful that he can be competitive again.”
